iMaCam enables researchers to conduct ethnographic probes on the move. iMaCam helps collect hard-to-get data of experiences and activities in the wild. Our application doesnt overburden you with hours of video that has to be endlessly analysed to extract the essence. It allows researchers to use cued recall to focus attention on the essence of making meaning of interaction in the place in which it occurs.
Using the iMaCam app, a participant in a study walks with an iPhone in a neck strap at chest height. The app takes pictures at preset intervals and records audio to creates a navigable slideshow and map that can be accessed from your phone or from http://imacam.org/navigator (optional).
Some possible areas where iMaCam can aid research:
- research on outdoor behaviour
- urban planning, space experiences
- design inspiration for mobile interaction design/place-centric designs
- research on tourism and leisure practices
- heritage and heritage sites
- parks, recreational areas
- narrative research
- research on walking and mobility practices
